Our Story

I grew up with seven siblings in a small ranch house in New Underwood, SD. With ten total people in the house, the activities were endless and we found ourselves all going different ways throughout the day. Still, the dinner table was set for ten knowing that we would all be at that table for a meal together. I knew I had and still have a place at that table. Food was not just about surviving in my house, it was about belonging and having a place in the world. When I grew and had my own family, I kept that philosphy. A place was set for each of my four children, my husband, and myself. A place to chatter and meditate, encourage and complain, laugh and cry, and to really just be ourselves. And food was at the center of it... Food is love in my house.

Hazel’s Sweet Treats and Eats began when my oldest son was undecided on what catering business to hire. Friends had been telling me for years that I should open a catering business, so I offered to give it a whirl. I did a delightful snack bar, a mouthwatering charcuterie board, and a scrumptious pasta bar. The food at the wedding was a hit and I had many express their satisfaction and asking when I would open a business! From there, Hazel’s Sweet Treats and Eats was born. I slowly ventured into baking and catering many different types of events. Learning along the way was (and still is) part of the fun with this business.

Today, Hazel’s Sweet Treats and Eats provides baked goods and catering for any and all events. Whether it be a wedding, corporate event, holiday party, graduation, birthday party, or any other celebration, you are coming to the right people. Your first bite of anything on our menu will reveal a homemade taste mixed with professional talent. Many say that their food is made with love, but when you order from Hazel’s Sweet Treats and Eats, the love behind the food will speak for itself.

Much Love,
